CAIRO-12 February 2021: Zamalek start the CAF Champions League league group stage journey on Friday night at Cairo International stadium against Algerian giants MC Alger.
Zamalek play in group D alongside Teungueth from Senegal, Tunisia's Espérance and Algeria's MC Alger.
"We prepared well for the match and analyzed MC Alger. We respect them but we are confident that we have many amazing players who can win us the match." Zamalek head coach Jaime Pacheco said in the pre-match press conference.
The White Knights aim for a strong start in the group stage as the team hopes to avoid any surprises and reach the quarter-finals.
Zamalek reached the competition's final last year but failed to lift the trophy after losing to arch-rivals Al Ahly in the final.
Pacheco added "Our target is winning the title this year but firstly, we need to secure a spot in the quarter-finals as we are playing in the group of death."
Zamalek are leading the domestic league table with 26 points, five points ahead of Al Ahly who still have two games in hand.
The game starts at 9:00 pm.
