CAIRO – 3 July 2017: Lithuania destroyed the Egyptian team with a 88-50 victory, as was expected in their second match at the Under-19 Basketball World Cup played in Cairo. Seven other matches were also played on the second day of the tournament.

The day started with a match between Argentina and South Korea in Group A. Argentina didn’t have any trouble beating the Asian team 100-76. In another Group A match, France won over New Zealand 80-69.
France stays in the top of the Group with four points, Argentina and New Zealand in the second position with three points and South Korea in the bottom with two points.

Germany achieved their first win over Puerto Rico 69-49 while Lithuania won over Egypt 88-50. Lithuania won two matches, collecting four points in the top of the group while Egypt and Germany, who will face each other in the next match, share the second position with three points. Puerto Rico is in the bottom of the group with two points.

Both group C matches were decided in the final seconds. Japan defeated Mali 76-73 while Spain defeated Canada 78-73. Spain rests on top of the group with four points, Canada and Japan with three points each share the second position while Mali after two losses sits in the bottom with two points.

In Group D the U.S. and Italy share first place with four points after defeating Angola and Iran respectively. The top two teams of the group will face off against one another to determine who will end the group stage in first place.

The next set of matches will be played on Tuesday.
