CAIRO-28 January 2021: Spain handball national team head coach Jordi Ribera praised his players after securing a spot in the World Cup semis, which was the team's main target before the tournament.

Spain booked a semi-final spot after defeating Norway 31:26 on Wednesday night at New Capital Sports Hall.

“I am happy for our achievement as our main target while preparing for the World Championship is to reach the semifinals. I am also happy with my players’ performance during the game as we showed a good image for our country." Ribera said after the match.

The Spaniards dominated most parts of the match and they had the upper hand in the game.

Ribera added "We put on a superb show in the first period but in the second one we did some mistakes but our hero goalkeeper Rodrigo Corrales saved us and performed a brilliant show,”

Spain will take on World Cup title holders Denmark on Friday in the semi-finals at Cairo Stadium Sports Hall.

Spain head coach commented on the clash against Denmark, saying "We will have a rest then start preparation for the tough game against the world Champions Denmark as it will be difficult and important game."
