CAIRO-10 October 2020: Former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger believes that the team's out-of-favor German playmaker Mesut Ozil can still be effective for the Gunners.

Ozil has been out of Arteta's plans this season and he was ruled out of the team's squad for UEFA Europa League.

"He wasn't exactly the one with the greatest discipline on the pitch. And playing the game without the ball wasn’t exactly his forte." Wenger said.

The German playmaker shined under Wenger's command and he was one of the best players in the league.

Ozil set up more than 51 assists in the Premier League between 2013, the season he joined the club, and 2018, Wenger's last season as Arsenal manager.

Wenger added "But you can deal with that if you put some more defensively minded players by his side. The main thing is to get the balance between attack and defence right."

Ozil is the only player to finish the league season with most assists in Germany, Spain and England.
