CAIRO, 24 September 2020: Mortada Mansour, President of Zamalek, announced the contract with Pacheco to succeed Patrice Carteron, in a video broadcast on the club's television channel.

Mortada said: "Pacheco will arrive in Zamalek within hours, and his contract will start on the 25th of this month."

"The technical committee agreed to choose Pacheco, and it was agreed with him, and he will come to Egypt, accompanied by three assistants," he added.

The Portuguese coach wanted to come to Zamalek with four assistants, a number that Zamalek was trying to reduce.

Pacheco took over the leadership of Zamalek in 2014, succeeding Husam Hassan.

Zamalek played 12 games with Pacheco, winning 9 times, drawing twice, and losing only once before leaving for Saudi youth.

In a surprising move, French manager Patrice Carteron paid his release clause, allowing him to leave the White Knights ahead of a proposed move to Saudi Arabia to coach Al Taawoun.
