CAIRO – 28 June 2017: Former footballer Paolo Maldini lost his game in a totally different kind of sport Tuesday: a tennis match in Aspria Tennis Cup in Milan.

The AC Milan and Italian national team defense legend earned a wild card into the doubles event at the ATP Challenger tournament, which is the level below the main tour, after he won a qualifier with his coach and partner Stefano Landonio.

Maldini, who turned 49, and Landonio, 46, played a doubles match in Aspria Tennis Cup and lost 6-1, 6-1 PolishTomasz Bednarek and Dutchman David Pel in the first round of the Milan tournament, the Telegraph reported.

Paolo was one of the best defenders in the history of football. He played more than 700 matches with AC Milan, won seven Serie A titles, was crowned UEFA Champions League five times and also took part in 126 matches with Italy, according to Transfer Markt website.
