CAIRO, 14 July 2020: Olympic team coach Shawky Gharib stressed that the presence of Ramadan Sobhi with Al Ahly in the Egyptian league gives him the freedom to include him at times outside the international agenda, stressing that his team wants to achieve a medal in the Tokyo Olympics in the summer of next year.

"There are no conflict between the Egyptian Football Association, We are committed to deducting part of our salaries until the return of the sporting activity."

"Our goal is to achieve an Olympic medal in Tokyo," he stressed.

He added, "The time is sufficient to make up for cancelled friendly games scheduled for September; after TOKYO Olympics was cancelled."

He revealed, "The presence of Ramadan Sobhi in the Egyptian league gives us the freedom to call him to the Olympic team easily outside the agenda, while Taher Mohamed Taher is one of our main elements. We missed him in the African Nations Cup under 23 years, and I wish him success in Al-Ahly."

The football tournament was supposed to start in the Tokyo Olympics next July, but the Corona pandemic has postponed the tournament until next year.

Egypt's Olympic team qualified for the Olympics after winning the African Cup of Nations under-23 players last November.
