CAIRO_11 July 2020: Former Egypt national team goalkeeping coach Zaki Abdel Fattah revealed on Friday that he expected from Ahmed El Shenawy more than what he has achieved.

"El Shenawy is the "Mohamed Salah of the goalkeepers" in Egypt. He had the capabilities to go far but he missed the mentality." Abdel Fattah said.

Zaki, the current goalkeeping coach of MLS side Los Angeles FC, joined American manager Bob Bradley's coaching staff when he led the Egyptian national team between 2011 and 2013.

Bradley took Egypt into the play-offs and Egypt were one step away from the World Cup but the national team lost 6-2 on aggregate to Ghana, which was the last station of Bradley and Zaki with the Pharaohs.

Asked about Egypt national team starting goalkeeper Mohamed El Shenawy, he said "He is not extraordinary buy he is the best in Egypt. He is eager to improve and he has to work on some basic skills he is missing."

Mohamed El Shenawy is Egypt's starting goalkeeper since 2018 when he went beyond expectations and earned a starting position at 2018 World Cup in Russia.
