CAIRO – 26 June 2017: The German and Chilean national teams have advanced to the quarterfinals in group B of the Confederations Cup on Sunday.

Germany defeated Cameroon 3-1, the second victory for the Germans after beating Australia in the first round.

Kerem Demirbay opened the scoring for Germany (48’) followed by Timo Werner’sd goal (67’) before the Cameroonian team made it onto the scoreboard with a goal by Vincent Aboubakar goal (79’).

Timo Werner struck again with a goal in the 82nd minute to finish the game and end Cameroon’s hopes.

The other game of group B was between Australia and Chile, which ended with a 1-1 draw. After Australia’s loss to Germany in the first round, the draw gave Chile the edge and helped them advance to second place in the group and advance to the quarterfinals.

The 2017 Confederations Cup is being hosted by Russia and runs until July 2.
