CAIRO_18 June 2020: Chelsea announced on Thursday that they have reached an agreement with RB Leipzig to sign their German striker, Timo Werner.

The English club announced that the 24-year-old striker will remain with his team till the end of the season.

"I am delighted to be signing for Chelsea, it is a very proud moment for me to be joining this great club." Werner said.

The player has been linked with a move to the top European clubs after his amazing performance with the German team since he joined the club in 2016 from his childhood club Stuttgart.

Werner added "I of course want to thank RB Leipzig, the club and the fans, for four fantastic years. You will forever be in my heart."

This season, Werner scored 32 goals and provided 13 assists in 43 appearances with Leipzig in all competitions.

The striker played a massive role in his club journey towards UEFA Champions League quarter-finals for the first time in the club history and they still have a chance to go further when the competition resumes in August.
