CAIRO, 08 June 2020: Hamada Tolba, former Zamalek and Egyptian national team defender, recalled the memory of his historic rescue, with the Egyptian national team, of the ball from the goal line against Nigeria.

"I told to Trezeguet not to care about defense and to go forward,” Hamada Tolba said during his interview in Zamalek channel.

"A few minutes passed and I found Victor Moses sending a cross from my side, so I went to Trezeguet and told him: Forget what I said, and he promised to defend me quickly." Tolba continued laughing.

About his historical rescue during the match, "Cuper asked us not to play on the offside rule trick against Nigeria before the match."

"In the ball that I saved from the line, Ahmed Hegazi and Rami Rabiaa stood to control ‘Offside’, but I was excited and focused to prove that I am following the coach's instructions." He added.

"So I ran quickly towards the goal and I managed to catch the ball at the last second. Basically, I was playing the game with a injury in my back,"

"On the plane during the comeback after the match, all the reporters went to Cuper to talk to him about the draw, so he said to them: Don't congratulate me, but go Tolba, because he is the reason for the tie."

The Egyptian national team tied in that match with a goal for each team in Lagos, before winning in Egypt with a goal and qualifying for the 2017 African Nations Cup after an absence in three successive tournaments.
