CAIRO – 22 June 2017: The Egyptian national men’s volleyball team under 21 years of age (U21) travelled this Monday to the Czech Republic to participate in the FIVB U21 World Championships being held from June 23 to July 2.

The Championships pitches 16 teams against one another, with Egypt and Morocco being the only African teams to participate in the event. Egypt plays in group D alongside Brazil, China and Japan.

Egypt’s last participation in the competition in 2015 ended poorly as it was in the bottom of their group with three losses. However, Egypt hopes to do better than in 2003 when they came in ninth place.

Under the team management of coach Maged Mohamed, the team has prepared for the competition in a closed camp in the Olympic Village.

Egypt faces Brazil in their first match, followed by Japan and China respectively.

Egypt qualified for the competition during the 2017 Africa men’s U21 Championship held in Morocco.
