CAIRO_11 April 2020: Egypt U_23 national team manager Shawki Gharib announced on Friday that the team coaching staff will support 600 families affected by coronavirus.

"I hope coronavirus pandemic to end and to get back to our normal life. I wish the best for Egypt and the whole world." Gharib told ONTime Sports on Friday.

Gharib led the national team to win the U_23 Africa Cup of Nations title and secure a spot at Tokyo Olympic Games.

The Olympic Games was postponed to 2021 amid the spread of coronavirus, which is good news for the team, according to Gharib.

"It is good news for us as we will be able to add the injured players to the final squad," Gharib said.

FIFA decided to extend the age limit of participation at the Olympics from 23 to 24 following the postponement of Tokyo Olympic Games.

The football men's tournament at Olympic Games is typically restricted to under-23 players with three overaged players.

FIFA's decision allows players born after January 1997 to take part in Tokyo Olympic Games in 2021.
