CAIRO – 21, 2017: Tennis legend Novak Djokovic will participate in the Aegon International Eastbourne, beginning on June 23, after accepting the Eastbourne wild card.

According to the Guardian on Wednesday this is the first time in seven years that the 30 year old tennis player will participate in a grass-court tournament in between the French Open and Wimbledon.

“This will be my first trip to Eastbourne,” Djokovic said. “I have heard great things about the tournament. I am looking forward to fine tuning my grass court game there ahead of Wimbledon.”

The director of the tournament Gavin Fletcher also expressed his thoughts on Djokovic’s decision to participate in the tournament.

Fletcher told the Association of Tennis Professionals on Wednesday that “the quality of the men’s and women’s entries is already incredibly high, and the addition of Novak will take the event to an even higher level.”

Djokovic is a three-time Wimbledon winner and currently ranked 4th worldwide.
