CAIRO – 21 June 2017: Paolo Maldini former AC Milan and Italian National team defender is expected to make his debut at the ATP Aspria Tennis Cup on his 49th birthday on June 26, according to Skysports.

Maldini is expected to play alongside his coach Stefano Landonio who is a former tennis player in the doubles men at the upcoming tournament.

Landonio spoke to II Tennis Italiano about Maldini’s first competition with him, “We knew we could play well. It was our first competitive tournament, but we previously played some exhibition matches with Paolo for charity activities.”

Reporting from Skysports, Landonio revealed how long Maldini began playing tennis, “Since he only started playing five or six years ago, there are some deficits in terms of technique.”

Landoni concluded his talk by saying some of the good qualities Maldini has, “Certainly in view of his background, he's got extraordinary mental and physical strength.

Psychologically, he never suffers in the slightest in delicate situations - he's really strong," Skysports added.
