Real Madrid’s former president Lorenzo Sanz died on Saturday night after being tested positive with coronavirus.

One of Real Madrid’s successful presidents, Sanz was diagnosed with coronavirus [COVID-19] at 76-years-old after days of having fever and suffering from the disease.

“My father just passed away,” Sanz’s son Lorenzo Sanz Duran tweeted on Saturday.

“He did not deserve this ending and this way. One of the kindest, bravest, and hardworking people I’ve ever seen is leaving. His family and Real Madrid were his passion,” continued Lorenzo on his twitter account.

Sanz’s presidency term at the Spanish Giants [Real Madrid] lasted for five years from 1995-2000 when Madrid won the UEFA Champions League twice.

During his time at Los Blancos [Real Madrid] Sanz managed to assemble a strong competitive team with Fabio Cappello as manager along with players like Roberto Carlos, Clarence Seedorf, and Davor Suker.

July 2000 marked the end of Sanz presidency with Real Madrid after losing the elections to Real Madrid’s current president Florentino Perez who secured La Decima [10th Champions League trophy] to Los Merengues [Real Madrid] .
