CAIRO-15 March 2020: Egypt U-23 national team manager, Shawki Gharib, announced on Sunday that the team's camp, scheduled during the international break in March, suspended due to fears over the spread of coronavirus.

Earlier on Saturday, the Egyptian Football Association, EFA, announced that all football-related activities are suspended for two weeks as a result of the spread of coronavirus.

The suspension includes fixtures of all Egyptian league divisions and age groups.

Egypt qualified for 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo after winning U-23 Africa Cup of Nations, held in Egypt between 8 and 22 November 2019.

Egypt appeared at the Olympic games 11 times before and their best achievement was the fourth place in 1928 in Amsterdam and 1964 in Tokyo.

Egypt’s last participation at the tournament was in 2012 in London and the national team was eliminated from the competitions at the quarter-finals after losing to Japan.
