Tough clashes for Al-Ahly and Zamalek at CAF Champions League quarter-finals

CAIRO – 6 February 2020: CAF Champions League quarter-finals draw resulted in tough clashes for the Egyptian giants, Al-Ahly and Zamalek.

Al-Ahly, who finished the group stage as runners-up, will face South African giants, Mamelodi Sundowns, in a repeat of their clash at the same round last season, which witnessed a humiliating elimination for Al-Ahly.

The Red Devils suffered a 5-0 loss at the first leg in South Africa and they could not bounce back at the second leg in Egypt which ended with a 1-0 win for Al-Ahly.

On the other hand, 2019 CAF Confederation Cup winners, Zamalek will face CAF Champions League defending champions, Espérance.

The Tunisian giants eye winning the trophy for the third year in a row to be the first African club to win three straight titles while the White Knights of Egypt aim to continue their continental success and win their first Champions League title since 2002.

The draw also resulted in another Arab derby as Etoile Du Sahel will face Wydad Casablanca while the other Moroccan giant, Raja, will face TP Mazembe.
