CAIRO – 18 June 2017: Egypt will be playing against Italy this Saturday in the Spanish city of Zaragoza for a friendly match in preparation for the FIBA Youth World Cup that is to be held in Egypt from July 1 to July 9.

The friendly competition includes 4 teams:Egypt, Italy, Germany and hosting country Spain.

Egypt lost the first match in the competition against Spain 91-66 and will play against Germany in a match on Sunday.

Egypt’s Coach, Juan Antonio Orenga, said that the that the team will try to apply what it learned in recent months, according to the Egyptian Basketball Federation official website

Orenga added that he has faced many challenges since he started coaching the Egyptian team and that he will do his best to secure a spot for the team among the top 8 in the World Cup.

Orenga asked Egyptian fans to support the team in the World Cup, explaining that they need fans to support the players who will play in front of huge crowds for the first time.

Egypt will be playing in Group A in the World Cup alongside Puerto Rico, Germany and Lithuania.
