Egypt attends U19 basketball tournament in Spain

CAIRO - 16 June 2017: Egypt’s Under 19 basketball team arrived in Madrid Thursday to participate in a friendly international tournament from June 15-21 in Zaragoza, Spain. The tournament is in preparation for the U19 World Cup, which will be hosted by Egypt at Cairo Stadium July 1-9.

Egypt will play four games during the Spanish tournament, against Germany and Italy and two matches with Spain. The team will start training on Friday morning as it will play its first friendly game against Spain on Friday night, Super Kora reported Thursday.

The team includes 14 players who will participate in the friendly tournament and then two will be eliminated to 12 players representing Egypt at the World Cup; the team is led by Spanish coach Juan Antonio Orenga.

The U19 World Cup is the largest sports event to be organized, for the first time, in African and the Arab world.
