CAIRO – 6 December 2019: Al-Ahly host group leaders, Al Hilal of Sudan, on Friday night at matchday 2 of CAF Champions League group stage at Al-Ahly Stadium.

Al-Ahly, led by Swiss manager, Rene Weiler, aim to bounce back after losing the first game of the group 1-0 to Etoile du Sahel in Rades.

On the other hand, the Sudanese giants had a perfect start with a 2-1 victory at home over Platinum FC of South Africa.

The African title is the main target of Al-Ahly players this season after their continuous failure to bring back the title since 2013.

Al-Ahly lost two consecutive titles in 2017 and 2018 to Wydad Casablanca of Morocco and Tunisia’s Esperence respectively before their disastrous run at the competition last season, which saw the Red Devils being knocked out from quarter finals after losing 5-1 on aggregate to Mamelodi Sundowns.

For the first time in the club’s history, Al-Ahly will play a game at African competitions at their own stadium as Al-Ahly moved from their old stadium, Mokhtar El Tetsh in late 60s and started their participation at African competition during mid 70s.
