CAIRO – 29 November 2019: Al-Ahly starts the CAF Champions League group stage games on Friday night in Rades when the Egyptian giants face Etoile du Sahel at the opening game of the group stage.

Al-Ahly have achieved a strong start since the club appointed Swiss manager, Rene Weiler, as the club new manager.

Despite Weiler’s success at the domestic league, Al-Ahly fans are awaiting the team performance against a tough opponent like Etoile.

Al-Ahly have great memories in Rades where the club won 2006 and 2012 CAF Champions League titles. However, Al-Ahly’s last presence in Rades Stadium was catastrophic for the Egyptian giants as they lost the title against Esperence who bounced back from a 3-1 loss at the first leg in Alexandria and achieved a 3-0 victory at the second leg.

“We are looking forward to victory and achieve the first three points at the group stage. It will be a tough game against one of the best teams in the continent.” Weiler said during the pre-game press conference.

Al-Ahly are expecting a familiar face on the pitch as the team former manager, Juan Carlos Garrido, is leading the Tunisian club.

Garrido guided Al-Ahly in 2014 to achieve the first Confederation Cup title in the club history.
