CAIRO - 15 June 2017: Egyptian handball player Yehia El Deraa’s transfer to Danish team Esbjerg, who recently purchased his contract, was postponed due to issues with work and residence permits.

The Danish team is expected to complete all procedures to obtain work and residence permits for the Egyptian international player, in order for Deraa to be able to travel and join his new team.

Esbjerg announced that Deraa signed a two-year-contract that will begin after his contract with Heliopolis expires at the end of the current season.

Deraa helped Heliopolis win the Egyptian Cup and stay in the professional league.

Deraa was close to Al Ahly after he played for the club on loan in the Super African Cup, African Cup of League Champions and the African Cup of Cups, but his desire to play abroad was a deciding factor in his transfer to the Danish team.

Deraa shined last season with the national team during the Rio de Janeiro 2016a and the French 2017 World Cup to become one of the top prospects for European teams.
