CAIRO – 14 June 2017: Roma announced its new team manager, former player Eusebio Di Francesco, on Tuesday. Di Franceso will be in charge of the team for two years, according to the deal. Eusebio will take Luciano Spaletti’s place on Roma’s bench.

"I am extremely happy to be able to return to Roma, to coach a club that has always meant a lot to me," ESPN quoted Di Francesco as saying of the deal.

Di Francesco played for Roma from 1997 to 2001, and he played for Roma’s squad during the Serie A title in 2001.

Roma’s president said, “Our new sporting director Monchi singled out Eusebio Di Francesco and, with his style of play, we believe he’s the right fit for Roma,” the team’s official website reported.

Di Francesco started his managerial career in 2008 and became a well-known manager in Europe after five successful years. Under his leadership U.S. Sassuolo Calcio advanced to the top division in 2012.
