CAIRO – 14 June 2017: On June 13, 2014 the Netherlands International striker Robin Van Persie scored a superb goal against Spain in a match that ended with a 5-1 victory in the Netherlands.

Speaking to the Mirror, Van Persie explained his thoughts and recalled memories when he scored the goal. He is quoted, “After I scored, the stadium exploded, the bench exploded, but so did my head.”

The former Manchester United and Arsenal striker claimed that he did not particularly like the way he scored the goal. “I did something which I had never done before.

I kept looking at the ball while I was flying, until I landed with a massive bang with my face forward on the ground,” Van Persie added to the Mirror.

Van Persie further expressed the importance of this goal in his professional career and the year 2014.

“That goal was not just a dream come true, it also changed the entire World Cup for us and the way the boss made his entrance at Man United,” Van Persie concluded with to the Mirror.

Fenerbache’s striker Robin Van Persie also revealed to the Mirror that he suffered a groin injury before the game, but together with the manager and doctor the news was kept quit. They did not want the Spanish team to know about his injury.
