CAIRO – 4 October 2019: Eyes turned to Alexandria on Wednesday night aiming for another amazing night for the African football in Egypt.

Alexandria hosted the draw ceremony for 2019 U-23 Africa Cup of Nations at the historic historic Haramlek Palace of Montaza Complex in Alexandria to host the ceremony.

Minister of Youth and Sports, Ashraf Sobhy, Egyptian Football Association (EFA) interim chief Amr El-Ganainy and the EFA board members attended the ceremony alongside Presentation CEO, Montasser Al-Nabrawy.

The draw ceremony received praise from the local and international media and here are some of the best photos from the ceremony.

The competition initially scheduled in Zambia but they drew and Egypt were announced as new hosts in 2017.

The top three teams will represent the continent at 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympic Games.

Egypt football appeared at the Olympic games 11 times before and their best achievement was the fourth place in 1928 in Amsterdam and 1964 in Tokyo.

Egypt’s last participation at the tournament was in 2012 in London and the national team was eliminated from the competitions at the quarter finals after losing to Japan.
