CAIRO – 27 September 2019: Egypt national team new manager, Hossam El Badry, will start his mission with the national team on 14 October in a friendly game against Botswana in Cairo.

“The Senior Men National Team, The Zebras, will play African giants Egypt, The Pharaohs, on the 14th October 2019 in Cairo, Egypt. The Zebras will head to Egypt on the 7th October for a short high-performance Camp to prepare for the game and the 2021 qualifying games.” Botswana Football Association tweeted on Friday.

El Badry was appointed as Egypt national team new manager to succeed the sacked Mexican manager, Javier Aguirre, as Egypt was eliminated from the 2019 AFCON round of 16 at home after losing to South Africa 1-0.

El Badry spent his entire career as a footballer inside Al-Ahly and he was one of the team members in the late 70s and early 80s before the injury forced him to retire at 26.

El Badry started his managerial career so early and he joined the first team staff in 2002 to serve as a coach assistant to the club’s historic Portuguese manager Manuel Jose.

El Badry became the club’s first man on Al-Ahly’s bench in 2009 and he is considered the club’s best manager in the last decade as he won four Egyptian League titles, three Egyptian Cup titles, Egyptian Super Cup title and 2012 CAF Champions League title during his three spells at Al-Ahly.
