CAIRO – 31 August 2019: Egypt international, Mohamed Elneny, arrived on Friday night in Istanbul to complete the deal with Turkish giants, Besiktas.

The Egyptian midfielder signed his new contract with the Turkish club to join them on a one season loan from Arsenal.

European giants, Girondins de Bordeaux and Galatasaray showed interest in signing the Egyptian midfielder but at the end Elneny decided to make Besiktas his new destination.

Elneny was a key player under Arsenal’s former manager, Arsene Wenger, who signed him from Basel FC in Switzerland in 2016.

Elneny failed to establish himself as a key player at the club since the arrival of Unai Emery who succeeded Wenger at the manager’s position.

Emery advised Elneny last week to leave the club to search for another challenge as he is not willing to count on him this season.

The Egyptian midfielder’s journey with football started when he was 6 as he was recruited by scouts of the Egyptian giants, Al-Ahly.

Elneny defended the red shirt for almost a decade before the club released him which was a turning point in his life as he joined Arab Contractors.

Three years later, Elneny was a first team member and started his journey with football as a professional.
