CAIRO – 29 August 2019: Egypt U-19 Volleyball team face Italy on Thursday afternoon at the semi-finals of 2019 FIVB Volleyball Boys' U19 World Championship held in Tunisia between 21 and 30 August.

The Egyptian team reached the semi-finals for the first time in the history after defeating Belarus 3-0 on Wednesday.

The world cup draw put Egypt in Group C alongside Germany, Argentina, Japan and Mexico.

Egypt finished top of Group with a historic 10 points, after achieving four victories to face Nigeria at the round of 16.

Egypt defeated the African rivals, Nigeria, to reach the quarter finals where they defeated Belarus.

Egypt appeared at the competition for 10 times before and the team’s best achievement in the tournament came in 2001 at home when they finished 4th.
The Egyptian volleyball boys hope to follow the steps of the handball u-19 national team won achieved the World Cup title, having defeated Germany at the final.
Tunisia hosts the competition between 21–30 August.
