CAIRO, 26 August 2019: The group phase of the Volleyball Youth World Cup ended on Sunday, which resulted in Nigeria facing Egypt in the quarter-final.

Nigeria finished fourth with six points behind Russia, the United States and South Korea, and finished fourth despite equaling points with South Korea but by an "average rate" for each team.

Egypt finished top of Group C with a historic 10 points, beating Japan, Argentina, Germany and Mexico.

The quarter-final between Egypt and Nigeria will take place at 2 pm on Tuesday.

The Nigerian team qualified for the Youth World Cup after winning the gold of the African Youth Games held in 2018. The Egyptian team was second behind Nigeria.

The Youth team participates in the World Cup for the 11th time in their history out of 16 editions.

The fourth place was the best results of the Youth team in the world cup, when Egypt won fourth place in 2001 in Egypt.
