CAIRO – 17 August 2019: Zamalek defeated Somalia’s Dekedaha in the first leg of the preliminary round of CAF Champions League at Borg El-Arab Stadium in Alexandria.

Friday’s game is Dekedaha’s home game as both clubs agreed to play both legs in Egypt.

The game was a great chance for Zamalek fans to watch some of the club’s new signings like Karim Bambo, Achraf Bencharki and Mohamed Awwad as well as the club’s legends Mohamed Abdelshafy and Shikabala who returned to the club this summer.

Zamalek equaled their biggest win at the CAF Champions League history as they achieved the same result over Chad’s Gazelle and CotonTchad in 2013 and 2018 respectively.

The new signings were decisive for Zamalek during the game as Bambo scored a goal and Bencharki scored twice. Omar El Said, Mahmoud Hamdy and Mostafa Mohammed added three goals for Zamalek while Dekedaha’s defender Cano Molly Severin scored an own goal.

This game is expected to be Tarek Yehia’s last game as Zamalek caretaker manager as the club announced that they have reached an agreement with Milutin Sredojević known as Micho to be the club new manager.
