CAIRO – 8 August 2019: Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced on Wednesday night their decision to postpone African Super Cup clash between CAF Champions League winners, Esperence from Tunisia, and CAF Confederation Cup winners, Zamalek from Egypt.

This announcement came after the CAF Disciplinary Board meeting which focused on this season’s CAF Champions League final between Esperence and Wydad Athletic Club from Morocco.

“The Wydad Athletic Club: is considered to have lost the game in the Final 2nd leg,” CAF statement said on Wednesday to crown the Tunisian club African champions for the second straight season.

Esperance won the 2019 African Champions League in an unfinished Final on the first of June. The match was suspended in the 60th minute as Wydad players refused to complete the match when the referee canceled a goal for the Moroccans and he was not able to revise it through VAR as it wasn't working.

Wydad players protested to the Gambian referee, demanding VAR be used, and CAF president Ahmad Ahmad spent almost 30 minutes in discussions with officials in a bid to get the game restarted.
