CAIRO – 1 August 2019: Liverpool Egyptian winger, Mohamed Salah, has been nominated for FIFA's “The Best” Award for Men’s player of the year.

FIFA revealed the shortlist of the nominees for the award as long as the nominees for the Women’s player of the year, Men’s coach of the year and Women’s coach of the year.

Salah has been nominated alongside Matthijs de Ligt, Frenkie De Jong, Kylian Mbappe, Sadio Mane, Virgil van Dijk, Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Eden Hazard and Harry Kane.

Salah made the list for the second year in a row after an outstanding season with his club, Liverpool.

The Egyptian winger led his team to win the UEFA Champions League title after defeating Tottenham 2-0 at the final, with the Egyptian scoring the opening goal from the penalty spot.

Salah also won the Premier League Golden Boot Award for the second straight season, having scored 22 goals.

Liverpool failed to win the precious title after finishing the league with one point behind the winners, Manchester City.

The winner will be announced at The Best FIFA Football Awards show in Milan on 23 September.
