CAIRO – 25 July 2019: Al-Ahly Tunisian winger, Ali Maaloul, congratulated Al-Ahly fans after winning the Egyptian League title on Wednesday night.

Al-Ahly defeated Arab Contractors 3-1 at Borg El Arab Stadium to reach 77 points and win the 41st league title in the club’s history.

Al-Ahly opened the scored after 22 minutes by Ali Maaloul who followed Walid Soliman’s free kick while Hussein El Sahaht added two goals for Al-Ahly at the second half.

At the same time in Cairo, Al-Ahly rivals, Zamalek, defeated Ismaily 3-1 to reach 72 points but Al-Ahly’s victory sent them points to win the title regardless the last round’s result.

“I was fully focused on Al Ahly and the league fixtures after my exclusion from Tunisia national team.” Maaloul said.

Maaloul was ruled out of Tunisia final squad that participated in 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.

Zamalek players hope to reconcile their fans after losing the league title when they face Al-Ahly on Sunday at Cairo Derby.
