CAIRO- 11 June 2017: The International Olympic Committee agreed to add mixed gender events in Athletics, Table Tennis and Triathlons.

Thomas Bch said "I am delighted that the Olympic Games in Tokyo will be more youthful, more urban and will include more women," according to ESPN.

The decision is taken for more gender balance in the Olympic Games.
The committee also added 2 more events in swimming competitions, namely a men’s 800 M and women’s 1500 M free style races.

Basketball will have a three on three events and cycling will also have 2 more events for men and women.

Commenting on this decision Champion Swimmer Adam Peaty told the BBC sports "Obviously it's very serious, but it's great to mix things up from what they've been for so long as it adds a little spice and they're great to watch.”

Peaty believes the decision will make the Olympic Games “more fun.”
The next Olympic Games will be hosted by Tokyo in 2020.
