CAIRO – 10 June 2017: The Egyptian national taekwondo team flew to North Korea Saturday in order to participate in the Taekwondo World Championship, scheduled to take place from June 24-30.

In February 2017, the Egypt national squad placed first at the 2017 Egypt International Open Taekwondo Championship after scooping a total of 20 medals.

The World Champion Egyptian players on the roster include Mo'az Nabil, Mohamed Farag, Saif Issa, Hedaya Malak, Rowen El Refaie, Radwa Reda, Youssef El Sayed, Noor Hussein, Habiba Essam, Mohamed Ayman and Abdel Rahman Wael.

At the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, Taekwondo practitioner Hedaya Malaka won a bronze after beating Belgium’s Raheleh Asemani in the women’s 57kg Taekwondo event.
