CAIRO - 12 July 2019: Al Ahly’s Hossam Ashour hasn’t been convinced of the choices of the Egyptian national team that participated in the 2019 African Cup of Nations.

Egypt was eliminated from the 16th round of AFCON as South Africa won the game 1-0 thanks to a late goal from their winger, Thembinkosi Lorch.

"Without any doubt, there are a lot of players who deserved to be on the list," Ashour told Al Ahly channel during his interview at his team's camp in Spain.

"How all those players didn’t join the national team? Ramadan Sobhy, Amr El-Soleya, Mohamed Hany, Abdullah Gomaa and Mahmoud Abdel Moneim ‘Kahraba’” Ashour questioned.

"The choices were wrong from the start, and at the end what happened didn’t please the fans." he said.

The Egyptian fans packed Cairo Stadium on Saturday to support Salah and his teammates against South Africa.

Egypt failed to dominate the game against the South African players who stopped all the Egyptian attempts to score.
