Cairo - 1 July 2019: Egypt national team captain, Ahmed Elmohamady, proved his importance to the national team during Egypt's participation in 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.

The player, who is wearing the captain armband for the first time during an international tournament, is dominating the right flank during Egypt’s group stage games.

The captain has formed a massive partnership with Mohamed Salah resulted in four goals of Egypt’s five goals during the group stage.

Beside his defensive role, Aston Villa’s defender has been decisive for the team's attacks, having scored two goals, the opening goal against Congo and the second goal against Uganda.

Elmohamady believes that Egyptian fans have a great impact on the team, saying” We thank our supporters for their support and wait for them in the coming games”
The captain hopes to lift the AFCON trophy on 19 July at Cairo Stadium.
