Cairo_30 June 2019: Mauritania earned their first ever point at Africa Cup of Nations as the team achieved a goalless draw against Angola on Saturday afternoon at Suez Stadium.

Mauritania, alongside Burundi and Madagascar, participate in their 1st Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.

The team, famously known as Lions of Chinguetti, reconciled their fans after losing their debut game 4_1 to Mail.

Mauritania were the better side during the game and they created many chances to score but they failed to convert them to goals.

The Lions of Chinguetti were shocked by a late goal from Angola which could have sent Mauritania home but the referee's whistle saved Mauritania. The referee disallowed the goal as Angola's Giraldo was offside.

Mauritania play in group E alongside Tunisia, Angola and Mali and they will end their group stage games against Tunisia on Tuesday.

Mauritania stay on the bottom of the group but they still have a great chance to reach the second round as Tunisia and Angola share the second position, 2 points each while Mali top the group with 4 points.
