CAIRO, 19 June 2019: Hours before the 2019 AFCON, Zimbabwe announced that their player, Tafadzwa Kutinyu, will miss the tournament after he suffered an injury.

Zimbabwe opens their participation in the tournament on Friday night against the host nation, Egypt, at the opening game of the competition.

The tournament takes place with the participation of 24 teams in six groups for the first time in the history of the African competition.

Zimbabwe's coach, Chidzambwa, didn't settle yet on the player who will replace the midfielder.

The lowest ranked of the four teams will rely heavily on stars based in South Africa as they aim to progress beyond the group stage for the first time in four attempts.
Zimbabwe plays in Group A alongside Egypt, Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Zimbabwe reached the tournament for the fourth time and they hope to reach the second round for the first time.
