CAIRO – 17 June 2019: Egypt veteran striker, Ahmed Ali, scored a goal during Egypt’s 3-1 victory over Guinea on Sunday night at the last preparation game for 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.

Ali’s goal came after a fine play from Mohamed Salah who dribbled the opponent’s goalkeeper then he shot the ball which hit the post and returned to Ahmed Ali who put it in the empty net.

“I am so happy with my goal and I do my best every game to help the team.” Ali told press after the game.

Ali, 34, is a surprise selection for the tournament after his amazing performance with Arab Contractors at the domestic League this season.

Ali is expected to be Egypt’s starting striker during the tournament and he hopes to form an attacking force alongside Egypt’s star, Mohamed Salah.

Ali spoke about Salah, saying “Salah is so humble and you feel like he is not playing at the top level. He always motivates us to be focused and ready.”

The tournament takes place with the participation of 24 teams in six groups for the first time in the history of the African competition.
Egypt plays in Group A alongside the Democratic Republic of Congo, Uganda and Zimbabwe.
