CAIRO – 9 June 2017: International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) is looking for replacement to Qatar to host the World Cup Championship for gymnastic games which is supposed to be held in Doha in 2018, according to Superkora website.

It comes after the boycott against Qatar, which announced by a number of countries including Egypt, because of its involvement in supporting terrorism in the middle east and all over the world.

Morinari Watanabe President of FIG during his participation as a guest in international German Gymnastics Festival 2017 in Berlin said, “We are working on an alternative plan, but it’s not the time to publish it,” Superkora website reported.

Watanabe also mentioned the federation concerns about the tensed political situation now in Qatar, which supposed to host the International Gymnastics competition from October 25 to November 3 this year.

"We are in daily contact with the organizers because of the current situation," said Watanabe, who has been president of FIG since October 2016.
