CAIRO – 20 May 2019: RS Berkane’s manager, Mounir Jaouani, revealed on Sunday that his team deserved to win against Zamalek after the clear chances they created during the game. He also insisted that the second leg in Egypt will be tough.

“We did everything we can to win but Zamalek goalkeeper saved all our chances. I want to thank our fans who supported us from the first minute and did not lose faith in us during the game.”Jaouani said after the game.

Zamalek players were on the verge of returning to Egypt with a draw but a late goal from Berkane’s Togolese striker, Kodjo Fo-Doh Laba, secured the victory for the home side.

Jaouani added “We still have another game in Egypt and I am sure it will not be easy to win the title there so we needed this goal to have a slight advantage during the second leg.”

Zamalek will miss Hamdi Naguez and Omar El Said for suspension at the second leg but their first choice goalkeeper, Mahmoud Gennesh, who missed the first leg for suspension will return to the squad.

Zamalek fans, who are expected to pack Borg El Arab Stadium at the second leg, hopes to see their players lift the cup and put an end to a 17 year drought from African titles.
