Lebanon appoints Butautas as the head coach

CAIRO – 7 June 2017: The Lebanese Basketball Federation appoints Former Lithunia head coach Ramunas Butautas as the manager of Lebanon’s National Basketball team.

According to International Basketball Federation (Fiba) the 53 year old Butautas will be managing Lebanon in the upcoming Fiba Cup that will be held from August 8-20.
Lebanon will be in group C facing Kazakhstan, South Korea, and New Zealand.

Butautas the former manager of the Lithuanian National Team is known for his notable achievement with Lituania in 2007, when Lithuania finished 3rd in the tournament and managed to go to the Olympics. However, his last tournament with Lithuania, Euro basket 2009, was not great after having only one victory from five matches.

The Lebanase National Team will be aiming to reach the final since the last time which is in 2007, when they managed to beat Korea in the semi-finals 76-74 before losing from Iran in the final 74-69.
