CAIRO- 01 April 2019: Zamalek assistant manager, Amir Azmy, believes that his team was the better side during Cairo derby and they deserved the three points.

“The players played a great game and we had many chances to score but we failed to convert them into goals,” Amir told the press after the game.

The Cairo Derby held on Saturday night between Al-Ahly and Zamalek ended with a goalless draw to keep the heat at the top of the table.

The game was played in difficult weather conditions as the rain started on Saturday morning and never stopped during the game which affected the pitch condition and did not allow both teams to show their expected performance.

Zamalek missed Hamdi Naguez and Mahmoud Alaa who failed to recover before the game and Zamalek manager, Christian Gross, replaced them with Mohamed Abdel Ghany and Hazem Imam.

Amir added “We are still leading the League table and we will forget the derby result to focus on the clash against Smouha on Wednesday.”

Zamalek are still leading the League table with two points ahead of the defending champions, Al-Ahly.
