Al-Ahly misses Hamdy Fathy for six weeks

CAIRO – 7 March 2019: Al-Ahly medical staff announced on Wednesday that the team midfielder, Hamdy Fathy, will be absent for the next six weeks following the injury he picked during the clash against Petrojet at the Egyptian League on Monday.

Fathy suffered a muscle injury during the first half of the game and left the pitch in tears.

The player will miss Al-Ahly clash against Vita Club at CAF Champions League Group Stage and the Cairo Derby against Zamalek on March 30.

Al-Ahly delegation arrived on Monday in the Democratic Republic of the Congo ahead of their clash against Vita Club at CAF Champions League Group Stage.

Al-Ahly plays in Group D alongside Tanzania’s Simba, Congo ‘s Vita Club and Algerian club JS Saoura.

Al-Ahly is leading the group with seven points, one point ahead of Simba and two points ahead of JS Saoura while Vita Club stays at the bottom of the group with 4 points.

Al-Ahly midfielder, Amr El Solia, is expected to be fit for the clash after he recovered from the injury that forced him to miss the clash against Petrojet at the League.

Al-Ahly failed to achieve their ninth title at the competition as they lost the last two Champions League Finals to Wydad Casablanca and Esperence, respectively.
