CAIRO – 30 January 2019: Zamalek achieved a 4-1 victory over Misr El-Makkasa on Tuesday night at the Egyptian League to continue their amazing run at the competition.

For the first time in history, Zamalek defeated El-Makkasa at both halves of the league, as they won 1-0 at the first half of the season.

Mahmoud Alaa scored twice at the last minutes of the first half and Zamalek’s Tunisian midfielder, Ferjani Sassi, scored another two goals at the second half, while Paulinvoavy scored El-Makkasa’s only goal at the game.

The referee sent out Zamalek’s defender, Hazem Imam, five minutes before the final whistle.

Zamalek's new signing, Khalid Boutayeb, earned his debut with Zamalek when he replaced Omar el-Said after 60 minutes.

“We had fantastic 40 minutes but then we conceded two goals at the last minutes of the first half that killed the game and made it difficult for us to return at the second half,” El-Makkasa manager, MounirEkila, said after the game.

Zamalek is leading the league's table with 45 points after 18 games; they are six points ahead of Pyramids who played 20 games and 12 points ahead of Al-Ahly who played 16 games.
