CAIRO – 21 January 2019: Egypt will face the 2019 IHF World Cup hosts, Denmark, on Monday night at the second game of the tournament's second round.

The Egyptian team lost their first game at the second round 32-28 to Norway, the 2017 IHF World Cup runners-up.

The Egyptian team was the better side at the start of the game but the experienced players of Norway managed to return to the game and dominated the play until the end.

Egyptian manager, David Davis, hopes to help his players defeat contenders, Denmark, in front of their fans who are expected to pack Jyske Bank Boxen in Herning.

Denmark achieved six consecutive victories since the start of the tournament and their last victory was on Sunday over Hungary.

Egypt managed to reach the second round for the first time since their best ever achievement when they won the fourth place in 2001.

The World Cup draw put Egypt in Group D alongside Sweden, Hungary, Qatar, Argentina and Angola.

The Egyptian team lost their first two games to Sweden and Qatar but they bounced back with two victories over Argentina and Angola; they ended their game against Hungary with a draw to finish third and reach the second round.
