CAIRO - 6 January 2019: Zamalek continued their amazing performance at the domestic league and achieved a 3-1 victory over Al-Ittihad on Saturday night at Borg El-Arab stadium.

Zamalek achieved their ninth consecutive victory at the league for the first time since 2013.

Zamalek were 1-0 down after 29 minutes when Khalid al-Ghandour opened the score for Al-Ittihad after a fine play from his teammates.

Zamalek needed only three minutes to equalize by Omar el-Said who received a wonderful cross from Mahmoud Kahraba.

Said's amazing partnership with Kahraba continued as the latter received a great pass from Said that put him one on one with the goalkeeper and Kahraba easily found the target to make the score 2-1 for Zamalek.

During the half time, conflict started between Zamalek goalkeeper Mahmoud Gennesh and Al-Ittihad goalkeeper Al-Hany Soliman that forced the referee to send both of them off and both teams continued the game with 10 players each.

At the second half, Zamalek dominated the game and had many chances to score but their strikers failed to convert them to goals.
Al-Ittihad had to continue the game with nine players after the referee sent off their defender, Mahmoud Rezk, 25 minutes before the final whistle.

At the added time, Zamalek won a penalty from which Mahmoud Alaa added the third goal and secured the victory for his team.

Zamalek reached 41 points on top of the table, while Al-Ittihad stayed with 20 points at the 12th position.
