CAIRO – 10 December 2018: Second division club, Beni Ebeid SC, are set to celebrate the 10th anniversary of knocking Zamalek out when they met each other in 2008 at Egypt Cup round of 32.

“It is a historic game for us and we had a stunning game against the Cairo giants,” Beni Ebeid President, Hermas Radwan, told Sada El-Balad.

In 2008, amateur players of Beni Ebeid, a then third division club, defeated Zamalek’s international players at El-Mansoura Stadium thanks to a goal by El-Sayed el-Mandouh.

Mandouh, who was a part time footballer, became an icon in his city following the historic goal he scored.

“We want to honor the golden generation of our team and we will invite other football clubs to attend the celebration including Zamalek,” Hermas added.

Beni Ebeid’s journey at the cup in 2008 ended at the round of 16 when they lost to their local rival, El-Mansoura.

The celebration is scheduled to take place on December 26.
